Scientists Predict More Floods, Droughts

Scientists Have Predicted That Climate Change

Am so scared if it is really happen. In coming decades will cause more floodings in the Northern Hemisphere and droughts in some southern and arid zone.

In addition, they said that some areas around the Mediterranean, parts of southern Africa, Noreastern Brazil and the Western U.S. region will likely suffer water shortages.

Rajendra Pachauri, the chief U.N. climate scientists, at the end of a meeting in Budapest that the rising frequency and intensity of floods and droughts could lead to a food crisis.

We may see a declined in agriculture production,'' said Pachauri, who is also chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel of Climate Change (IPCC) , which shared last year's Novel Peace Prize with former Vice President Al Gore.

An IPCC report presented at the meeting said the declined of water quantity and quality would lead to shortages of water for drinking and agriculture.

Millions of Africans could be afflicted by such water problems by 2020, unless action is taken to mitigate climate change, experts said.

While the proportion of heavy rainfalls will very likely increase, so will the areas simultaneously affected by extreme droughts. Oh my God Don't let it happen please.

The Strong demand of Rice

Washington__The strong demand for rice overseas as well as its tight availability makes it also difficult for supplies to meet the rice demands of the Philippines, the USA Rice Federation said.

US rice exports this year have soared by more than 20 percent over that of last year, help by strong overseas demand for the staple.

The Philippines used $ 75 million in GSM credit guarantees this year to buy US rice but funds cannot be made available under the program since the US farm law is set to expire.

And the new harvest season in the Philippines begins in September and we can get there without suffering any devastating typhoon hits then we' ll be okay.

US rice exporters of the worldwide shortage of rice by the end of the year, but until then, prices are expected to increase further.

Looking Forward to Labor Day

Difficult times should inspire the organizers of this year's Labor Day celebration to rally around one word: Comparison.
Comparison is different from mercy. Comparison is all about caring from each other, giving back and paying forward-inspired only by the desire to be kind, do good, and to simply matter. Soaring prices punctuate our meager incomes, hence the desperate need for unity against adversity, for the "haves" to start helping the "never-haves."

The choice of working man between a hot bowl of lugaw in the local carinderia or two pan de sals dipped in a cup of coffee before returning to work has been weighed down by inflation and stagnant incomes. This is the reality that should motivate government to look at the humanitarian aspects of working in the country, with truth and compassion. The people who would be celebrating Labor Day - the daily wage earners, salaried employers - these are the Filipinos who choose to stay, to keep their families intact, to hold up the economic sky of our country from within its shores.

What can the government say to them on Labor Day? When the world is at a crisis, leaders are called upon to be more specific; to use their authority to solve real problems and bring hope to the people. Labor Day sets the stage for innovative, bold, and compassionate leadership.

If it were left to me to write the President's speech, this is what I would say:

"In every speech I have delivered I always hammered on the message of a strong economy.

The Hague, Netherlands

--Brazil and the Netherlands agreed Friday to work together on the sustainable production of bio fuels and to help developing nations establish their own crops to make alternatives to fossil fuels.

President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva signed a cooperation agreement on the second and last day of his state visit to the Netherlands.

And Dutch Foreign Minister Maxine Verhagen said Brazil, the world's largest producer of ethanol from sugar cane, is well placed to help the European Union meet its target of having bio fuel make up 10percent of fuel needs in the bloc's transport sector by 2020.

But he said that the ethanol has to be produced sustainably--meaning without muscling out food crops or leading to deforestation.

Good Shepherd Sunday

Hi ! my friends guest and visitors, just came from church, today is the fourth Sunday of Easter what we called ''Good Shepherd Sunday.''Don't you know the title''Shepherd'' in the Hebrew bible refers primarily to God who shepherds in His people. This is brought out in Psalm 23:''the Lord is my Shepherd, there is nothing I shall want. Fresh and green are the pastures where He leads me repose...Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for You are with me; You rod and your staff-they comfort me.''

Political and religious leaders, as God anointed deputies, were also referred to as shepherds in the Bible. But some of them only got the title and not the good qualities of a shepherd. Instead of feeding the sheep entrusted to their care, they feed on them. God raise up prophets like Ezekiel to denounce such shepherds.

Thus says the Lord God: Ah, you shepherds of Israel who have been feeding yourselves! Should not shepherds feed the sheep? You eat the fat, you clothe yourselves with the wool, you slaughter the fat lings; but you do not feed the sheep. You have not strengthened the weak, you have not healed the sick, you have not bound up the injured, you have not brought back the strayed, you have not sought the lost, but with force and harshness you have ruled them. So they were scattered, because there was no Shepherd; and scattered, they became food for all the wild animals. My sheep were scattered, they wandered over all the mountains and on every high hill; My sheep were scattered over all the face of the earth, with no one to search or seek for them(Ez 34:2-6)On account of the infidelity of the shepherds to their Divine calling, God made this solemn promise to His people that He Himself was going to be their Shepherd, their Good Shepherd (Ez 34:15-16). This promise was fulfilled in Jesus who declared Himself to be the Good Shepherd who protects and knows each of His Sheep by name.(Jn 10:11)

Jesus is the faithful Shepherd who serve His flock and leads them into well-being and abundance. He keeps them us safe from every danger such that they want for nothing and fear no evil even as they are surround by their foes. He goes to rescue his lost sheep so'' that they may have life, and have it abundantly.'' (Jn 10:10). And since He is willing to lay down His life for them, His sheep follow Him devotedly and believe that He will not Lead us astray. (Jn 10:14)

Today's feast is thus a summary of who Jesus is and who we are all called to be. As we celebrate Jesus our Good Shepherd, may we His Good sheep, so that we might listen attentively to his voice, and follow His example of self-giving love. Let us also pray all our shepherds, especially our religious and political leaders. May they all follow the example of Jesus who was willing to serve and lay down His life for His sheep.

Filipino Entrepreneurs in Hong Kong

The first thing that come to our mind when we talk of Hong Kong are our Overseas Filipino Workers, but never about the Filipino Entrepreneurs.

Well, if you want to see Filipino ingenuity, come to Hong Kong. If Business districts like traders,go to the Hong Kong side specially the Central district and you will find Filipino's by the hundreds of them, engaged in a business of their own. They are also in North Pointe, New Territories and areas like Admiralty and Causeway Bay.

It is nice to study the guts and the entrepreneurial spirit this workers to do start their second business yet in a foreign land. Many of this have probably not heard what a Business Plan is, much more writing them. What i know they have is the Idea of the business and knows exactly how to start and operate one. The rest is what is popularly known as risk taking.

Next time you will be in Hong Kong , see our Filipino Entrepreneurs. You will be amazed how good are they in Marketing when nobody among them has probably gone to a Marketing school. You will be surprised how fast they know about things like Cash Flow, Working Capital, and the value of Saving just be observing others. And lastly, imagine these Entrepreneurs competing head on with the Local Chinese in the retail channel?

To these Filipino Entrepreneurs, Cheers May your tribe increase.

Colon Cancer

Colon Cancer can be treatable at early stage

Symptoms usually appear when the cancer is already at stage 2 and 3, which is why it recommends regular physical examinations to detect and have the cancer treated ahead of the manifestations.

The early signs include ''changes in bowel habits-( such as) if you used to move your bowels daily and now your either doing it 2 or 3 times a week (constipation) or 2 to 3 times a day (diarrhea),''

Other symptoms are ''bleeding from the rectum'' and ''loss of appetite and weight''.

''Abdominal pains'' provide alarming signs that the cancer has reached an ''advanced stage''.

A person becomes susceptible to colon cancer generally upon reaching the age of 60, and ''as you grow older, the incidence goes up''.

Among the different types of cancers, colon cancer is the six leading cause of death among Filipino men and women. In women, it is no. 1o killer compared to the other cancers, and in men, it ranks no. 5,. If you're not really feel good and have doubt on your health go to your doctor for a general check-up. To prevent illness.

Global Rice Crisis

For the past few days we are alarming of Rice crisis now. We feel so bad since we found out that the kilo of rice now is 35 up to P48.oo as of last month. We really-really feel bad because the price of a rice now is continue to a higher price.

I think the world is facing now a rice crisis and the Philippines is scrambling to import rice to cover its shortfall.

The country produces about 90% of its rice requirement and must import up to 2.1 million metric tons to maintain its two-month inventory.

The Philippines paid about $708 per ton at a tender this month for imported rice, more than double what it paid six months ago.

The NFA, the grain purchasing arm of the government that spends billions of pesos every year subsidizing rice to the public, is now one the biggest drags on public finance, with net liabilities in 2006 of nearly P43 billion.

Baby on Board

What to do when traveling with our Baby

For each trip, we as parents should have two checklists. First is for the actual travel which will include items needing quick access.
A second checklist is for items that can be packed and will only be needed upon arrival at the destination.
The following things, will help us as parents decide which to include in the checklists:

1.First Aid Kit It is important to have the infant checked by a pediatrician before the trip. This will ensure that the baby's first aid kit.

2.Enough food, water and milk for the trip.

3.Feeding bottles/utensils/equipment. A breastfeed mom will have a great advantage here as she does not have to bring a lot to feed her baby.

4.Diapers. Enough to get you through the expected travel time, times two.

6.Hand sanitizers or alcohol.

7.Disposable diaper toss bags. These will become handy when you're in a place where you cannot easily dispose of a diaper.

8.Enough clothes plus extra. Attire should be appropriate for the weather you will be traveling through. We parents should bring spare clothes for themselves too.

9.Baby's blanket. Its familiar scent will be reassuring.

10.A favorite toy or book to keep them occupied.

Enhancing Family Communications

Holidays, birthdays, anniversaries and other happy family occasions bring about pleasant family associations. These are occasions that are continually celebrated by the family and bring about many pleasant memories, as each family member looks back to the past and in the future. The activity is not important. It could be as simple as dinning out on our backyard with hubby's cooking, or giving a surprise dinner for the whole family one Saturday night. It could be one big family celebration like a birthday party, a wedding anniversary as Mom and Dad, a Christmas dinner with all the members of the family attending and pitching to make it a grand affair.

As they grow older, they will remember how things used to be with your family. This becomes one precious heritage built by the years of meaningful interaction between us and our love ones (as parents and other family members). Things like this just do not happen. They happen because we are willing to make it happen. Remember what we do together today is what we will look back tomorrow either with pleasant memories or with much regret. These will also have a bearing on how our children's or love ones will handle their own family in the future. hmmm, sarrrap ng feeling ,delicioussss Love this photo hm... how sweet ...

Reshaping one's self

Although we know that it's not as difficult as we think. Every one of us can follow a medical spa's general rules:

1.Add more veggies and fruits to your diet..

2.Cook less or under cook your food. Between raw food and cooked, raw is best. This is because cooking changes the chemical composition of food. In general, the lesser the cooking , the more enzymes/nutrients are preserved.

3.Take a rest from eating. If you declare a moratorium on food and hydrate your body with clean, purified or alkaline water, you give your digestive system a rest. This ought to help victims of migraine and chronic headaches. Flushing the system rids the body of toxins.

4.Be kind to animals. Eat no meat of any kind at least once a week. Substitute with vegetables and nuts.

5. Exercise. Any workout done three times a week is a good to start. Once you begin an exercise regimen, you will continuously look for the endorphin rush that will maintain your body in feel good mode.

6. Breath. Daily relaxation through the process of slow breathing will bring great health benefits. It will almost immediately control the stress hormones-- adrenaline and cortisol. Thus, if you are continuously stressed, try breathing slowly ( inhale, six counts; hold, 2 counts; Exhale, 6 counts).

7.Stay calm. Stress skin equals internal stress. So, smile rather than frown.

8. Load up on Vitamins A, B, C, D, E, and K--the essentials to basic health. Ask your doctor for advice.

9. Compliment itself each day. Instead of finding fault in yourself , look at your pluses.

If summer were forever, and renewal is your goal, then you are renewed all seasons.

Love and light!

A New you this summer

Whenever the topic of change is brought up in conversations, many people tend to balk at the idea. Those who wants change almost give up simply because what may otherwise be a challenge becomes a chore to us.

How to begin:

1. Remove whatever stumbling blocks there may be. More Often than not, the root cause of immobility or inability to get started is fear of failure. Let us do some housekeeping in that part of
our self that says,'' I can or I cannot''.

2. Make a list of the dreams, plans/projects, targets we have set for yourself. The best and only judge of your choices is yourself. So, decide what plans to put on hold and what dreams need manifesting. It doesn't matter whether they are simple (like dancing) or complicated (like sky diving). Whats important is how highly you regard it. Place a deadline or actual date of completion of your dream.

3. Go on a new kind of diet. Starve yourself if you must from the following: anger, bitterness, jealousy, hate. Instead, feed on forgiveness,
reconciliation, love, optimism.

Here's an inner cleansing regimen we can do. If you need to ask
forgiveness from someone but too ashamed to face him, do this. Go to a quite corner, close your eyes, focus on the person who has wronged you or whom you have wronged. Imagine him/ her before you. Now ask for forgiveness. This soul to soul reaching out is effective. Soon, you will sense a change in the other party's behavior towards you. Just try after you will fell fresh and very comfortable.

Footprints In The Sand

One night I had a dream.
I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord and across the sky flashed
scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:
One was mine and the other was the Lord's.
When the last scene of my life appeared before me, I looked back at the
footprints in the sand and to my surprise,
I noticed that many times along a path of my life there was only one set of footprints.
I also noticed that it was at the lowest and saddest times in my life.I
asked the Lord about it,"Lord, You said that once I decided to follow
You, You would walk with me all the way. But I notice that during the
most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why you left me when I needed you most."
The Lord said,"My precious child, I love you...
I never left you during your times of trial and suffering. When you see
only one set of footprints, it was then that I was carrying you."
